Scholarship Overview

Am I Eligible to Apply?
To qualify for this scholarship, you must:
- Be a Canadian citizen studying at a Canadian or foreign institution or a non-Canadian (foreign national or permanent resident) enrolled in a doctoral program at a Canadian institution.
- Already be accepted into a full-time doctoral program, or in year one or two of your doctoral program.
- Be expected to complete your doctoral studies in 2026 or later.
- Intend to pursue a field of study related to the humanities or human sciences directly relevant to Canada’s future.
- Be planning to carry out doctoral work on a research topic relating to one or more of the Trudeau Foundation’s founding Four Themes.
How Do I Apply – Next Steps
- All candidates who are committed to a three-year leadership program and who meet the eligibility criteria can apply directly to the Foundation through the application portal as follows:
- First, carefully study the Foundation’s programs and Brave Spaces.
- Next, register for an account on the Foundation’s application portal.
- After this, fill out the scholarship application.
- Get all the required recommendations.
- Complete and submit your application via the application portal.
- Once the deadline for submissions has passed and all applications have been received, the Trudeau Foundation will begin the selection process.
- Finally, shortlisted candidates will be invited to group interviews. These finalists will proceed to interviews with the Application and Nomination Review Committee (ANRC) who will then give their choices to the Board of Directors for final approval.
