Scholarship Overview
- The Government of Ireland International Education Scholarships are awarded to high-caliber students from non-EU/EEA countries to undertake full-time study in Ireland for one year.
- Under this initiative, 60 scholarships will be provided for one year of study at masters, postgraduate diploma, or Ph.D. levels to successful candidates who have been offered a place at an eligible Irish higher education institution.

What does the scholarship cover?
- €10,000 for one year of study to cover student costs and living expenses.
- The host HEI gives a full fee waiver (tuition and other registration costs) for the scholarship year.

- International students from outside the EU/EEA. Switzerland, and the UK.
Am I Eligible to Apply?
To qualify for this scholarship you must:
- be a citizen or resident of a country outside the EU/EEA, Switzerland, and the UK;
- not have previously held a GOI-IES scholarship;
- have already applied for admission to a relevant masters, postgraduate diploma or PhD programme offered by an eligible higher education institution as per that institution’s admission procedures;
- have a conditional or final offer of admission to that higher education institution at the time of applying for the Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship;
- be ready to submit a copy of the offer of admission;
- display academic, professional, personal, and creative excellence;
- have excellent communication skills;
- have a record of involvement in extracurricular activities e.g. arts, sports, politics(local, national, or international), or humanitarian work;
- possess a strong rationale for pursuing your study in Ireland that indicates how a GOI-IES fits into your longer-term goals.

- Eligible students are invited to submit applications to the Higher Education Authority (HEA) via the official online application portal.
Required Documents
- Academic qualifications, achievements, and/or work experience.
- A Personal Statement, indicating how the applicant believes that becoming a GOI- IES Scholar will benefit them, Ireland, and their country of origin, how they will extend themselves beyond their project/studies to become actively involved in Irish society to maximize their academic/cultural exchange experience and to raise awareness of the GOI-IES scheme in Ireland and beyond, and how they will promote links with Ireland during their time as Scholars and also after as Alumni.
- Two references uploaded via the online application portal (please note that the HEA is not able to accept references submitted via email or other sources outside of the online application portal).

- The above documents constitute key evaluation criteria which will be graded out of a total of 100 marks.
