Take a walk through a shanty or a capital city in most Africans countries and I assure you, you cannot fail to see children being embraced by problems.
These children are begging for food, money, and clothing’s and the most disturbing of all robbing people so as to survive the days. When taking a deep look at these children you will come to discover that they are sad and their faces are strained, they are groomed on tattered clothes and they are extremely dirty, others suffer from malnutrition and ill-health.
These are the types of problems facing students in Africa and unless something is done these student’s dreams will absolutely turn dull in front of them.
The list below indicates my review for each point I am making. Take some time to read the article down till the end, and am sure you will view this issue in a very different way.
5 problems facing students from Africa
- Poverty
- Rape
- Poor health facilities
- Starvation
- Language barrier
Poverty
- This is the major problem facing students in Africa. Africa being the only continent, been characterized by severe poverty. Poverty has been the result of forcing many of the African students to drop their studies and end their dreams and make students engage in another way to support them. Only in the Sub-Saharan Africa it has been recorded that poverty in the rural areas has forced many students to drop their education and get involved in the rural-urban migration in a very high percentage taking the major role.
Rape
- On this point mainly the female students are affected. Example of this kind of incidents is mostly encountered in the central regions of Africa, to be precise Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) where the country is facing many wars due to political instability and rise of numbers in rebels. Many of the female students in DRC are raped and forced to drop out of school due to unwanted pregnancies or infections from the rebels like STD’S or HIV/AIDS and the number is running.
- Poor Health Facilities is rated as one of the shaming problems encountering Africa; it is revealed that this problem is a notorious one; the main reason is because the governments in Africa do not worry much about their people but only their personal interest. This factor has played a major role in making students stop their students due to poor health facilities which don’t provide better medication to students suffering from mere diseases hence making the matters complicated leading to students drop out in school.
Starvation
- Due to poor Agricultural methods being practiced in Africa, Africa has always depended on the west for relief food and aids concerning epidemics of starvation and malnutrition. Due to this, many African students have put aside their education and prefer doing another thing which will help them survive the day.
Language Barrier
- If you have ever talked to an African friend you will recognize a certain tone of accent while they are speaking, this is just an example getting to elaborate how teachers and students in Africa encounter problems during their classes. For instance take a country like Tanzania it has over 50 tribes speaking different languages, and for example a teacher having 50 students all from different tribe, it will be very difficult for him to be understood and this will be a very discouraging impact in the student’s results.
